REQUIREMENTS:

BLS Black Alumni Network (BLS BAN) is comprised of African American Latin School Alumni.  We are united in the cause of advocating, assisting and advancing the goals and specific issues surrounding Black students currently enrolled at Boston Latin School.

This scholarship is specifically designed to assist Black / African American graduating seniors. The recipients of this scholarship will have the option to use these funds for one of three specific purposes:

  • To invest in education – By attending an accredited institution of higher education or trade school.
  • To invest in entrepreneurialism – Using as capital in their personal business start-up idea; and engage in a minimum year-long mentorship with a successful entrepreneur, from the BLS Black Alumni Network.
  • To invest in enrichment experiences – Using towards travel/study abroad, research, unpaid internships, conferences, leadership development, and other cultural, educational, and entrepreneurialism enrichment opportunities. In planning how they will use these funds, recipients will receive mentorship from the BLS Black Alumni Network.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Graduating Senior from Boston Latin School
  • Black / African American as identified on official school demographics
  • Cumulative GPA 2.5 minimum
  • Demonstrates perseverance through adversity
  • 500-word essay: How would receiving this scholarship further your career and life goals?
